Sophie Hyde

Sophie is one half of the Closer Productions partnership. She has worked as a director and producer of documentaries, dance films, music clips, fashion and theatre. As a video artist she has created work for many dance and text based performances. Sophie also works with arts organisations to document the stories and experiences of young people and different communities. Sophie Wrote, Directed and Produced Closer's documentary "Ok, Let's Talk About Me" and was producer and co-director on a series of documentaries about young people on an arts project in Adelaide's Northern suburbs. Sophie is the director of the short drama "My Last Ten Hours With You" (formerly "Staying Up") which won Best Direction, Best Drama and Best Film awards at the SA Short Screen Awards, Best Film at Mardi Gras and Melbourne Queer film festival (and audience award) and has screened at many festivals around the world including Melbourne International Film Festival(AUS), Palm Springs Shortsfest(USA), Montreal World Film Festival(CAAN), Uppsala Short Film Festival(SWE). She co-directed "Beyond Beliefs", a one hour documentary about the relationship between Muslim and Non-Muslims in Australia.

Sophie is currently developing some shorts and a feature and has just completed production on Necessary Games, three short dance films with Restless Dance Company. She is also currently directing a one-hour documentary for SBS TV and developing a documentary about dancer/choreographer Tanja Liedtke.
