Michael Kraaz

Michael Kraaz is an independent filmmaker based in Canberra, the national capital. His fixation with pop culture has led him down many paths. Avidly reading movie magazines as a teenager inspired him to become a film-maker. This interest led to him completing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication at the University of Canberra. Post-university life saw him involved in radio, producing a segment of the National Film and Sound Archive's <i>Ten Minutes of Passion</b> project. NFSA then employed him as an education presenter. A popular part of his presentations were the two Aeroplane Jelly commercials from the '40s and '50s. It was here he first decided that the story should be expanded into documentary form. He is next preparing a new documentary about the pioneering animation work undertaken by Eric Porter in Australia the1930s-50s.
