An inspiring film about a unique Islamic Cultural Centre: a place of worship and of study, a library and a centre of learning, it is also a building where families gather, an integral part of a community that speaks more than thirty languages, comes from more than forty countries and shares a single faith.
As our newspapers report, this assertion of a single faith is rare. The Islamic Cultural Centre is a place where Shiite and Sunni worship together and where a community has resisted temptations โ often in the form of offers of substantial funding โ to favour one faction over another.
Why does it work so well?
In this film we meet five people with different connections to the One Place. Together, they describe their lives, their beliefs โ and the fears and prejudices that exist within the greater community of which they are a part.
This documentary is the work of a team of Canberra filmmakers working with the full co-operation of their local community.
