The Australian Workers Film Guide has been launched
16 August 2024
Ronin Films is pleased to support the launch of an outstanding new database for films about labour history in Ausralia: The Australian Workers Film Guide.
The Guide provides a comprehensive record of Australian working class films, and is intended for educational and cultural purposes. It covers feature films, documentaries, promotional videos and even selected television commercials.
The resource is searchable and contains information about each film listed and the filmmakers, along with educational content summaries. While the Guide does not provide access to the films, the Guide does include information about where they may be accessed.

The Guide is the result of a research project conducted by Swinburne University of Technology. It was funded by the Union Education Foundation, a charitable trust established by the Australian Council of Trade Unions.
The project was led by and authored by Dr Jeff Bird, filmmaker and Lecturer in Film & Television at Swinburne University of Technology.
Dr Bird directed two outstanding films in the Ronin Films collection:
BLOOD ON THE COAL - stories from the Queensland coalfields over the last 150 years as told by mineworkers and their families. For information and orders see:
