Vilsoni Hereniko
One of the Pacific region's best-known playwrights, director-writer Vilsoni Hereniko is the recipient of several awards, including the Hubert Bals Fund for the screenplay The Land Has Eyes.
Originally from the island of Rotuma, north of Fiji, he has lived in Hawaii since 1991 where he is now a professor of Pacific literature, theatre and film at the University of Hawaii. He is also an author and writer of children's books, as well as editor of the journal The Contemporary Pacific. The youngest of eleven children, he is the first native of Fiji to make a feature film. His previous work, the documentary, The Rotuman Clown and short Just Dancing, have been screened internationally.
