Les Wilson

A former political journalist, Les has directed numerous films for the BBC and ITV networks, Channel 4, BBC Scotland and Scottish Television. His experience ranges across current affairs, history, arts and entertainment, documentary, and drama.

Les was editor of Scottish TV's political programme Ways & Means before training as a programme director. His work for Scottish TV ranged from live multi-camera editions of The Time and The Place for the ITV network to documentary productions for Channel 4 including the 24-part history series Scotland's Story and Christopher Hitchens' feature length film about the British monarchy The Enchanted Glass.

Les and Seona Robertson founded Caledonia TV in 1993. Les' film Children of Chernobyl won a Scottish BAFTA and the 1997 British Telecom Scottish Current Affairs Award. His film about Scottish devolution, The Ghost of '79, won the same BT Award the following year. He is a previous winner of the Celtic Film & TV Festival Documentary Award, and has been nominated for the Best Factual Documentary at this year's festival.

Les is co-author (with Seona Robertson) of the book Scotland's War, based on the 30-part series they made for Scottish Television on Scotland's experience of World War II.
