Endometriosis (Endo) affects perhaps as many as 1 in 10 women. In Australia that’s over half a million.

Endo causes severe pelvic pain, digestive disorders, problem periods, difficulty conceiving and infertility. It costs Australia over $6 billion dollars a year in direct healthcare and lost productivity. What is Endo and how do we treat it effectively?

SHARED PERSPECTIVES is a unique educational resource for women with Endo and Healthcare Professionals. The double DVD pack contains 6 hours of essential, topical information by 14 Presenters on medication, surgery, fertility, diet and other therapies that can relieve the pain, symptoms and effects of Endo.

SHARED PERSPECTIVES is the result of a dynamic collaboration between documentary filmmakers Rod and Lesley Freedman, their interviews with eleven young people who suffer Endo and scientists and doctors treating and researching Endo. It aims to inform and enhance the practice of healthcare professionals as well as to empower patients to understand and self-manage their complex disease.

Most people have never heard of Endo. There’s very little accessible evidence-based advice on treatment options to help manage this debilitating disease. Women suffer in silence, unwilling to open a discussion that involves menstrual disturbance and pelvic pain. Girls regularly miss days of school, young women are forced to leave their jobs and couples suffer the tragedy of miscarriage or infertility.

In May 2015, EndoActive Australia & NZ, a health promotion charity started by Lesley & Syl Freedman, convened the 1st EndoActive National Endometriosis Conference at the University of Sydney. The aim is to initiate discussion and a flow of information from health professionals to health consumers and vice versa.

Special presentations from celebrated author Dame Hilary Mantel, Mia Freedman - founder of the digital publication Mamamia, Annastacia Palaszczuk - Premier of Queensland and 14 first class Presenters, make SHARED PERSPECTIVES a unique, intense, informative resource for both clinicians and health consumers.
